Census of Australian Vertebrate Species: Biocodes
In the Australian fauna, some groups have been given Biocodes, such as the Census of Australian Vertebrate Species (CAVS) for Amphibia, Aves, Mammalia (Eutheria, Marsupialia, Prototheria) and Reptilia and Codes for Australian Aquatic Biota (CAAB) for aquatic organisms, mainly fishes.

The CAAB lists can be accessed from the or for the fishes: Pisces (3 separate groups) and Agnatha the CAAB codes have been included in the CAVS list as well. The CAAB codes are 8 digit codes starting with ‘37’ e.g. 37003002. - CAVS: what’s new page
